Holi Dilemma

Today after 3 odd months i came to my home. We students usually go to our home at festivals.Since i am also a student so following this trend.Currently i am pursuing my PGP in management and we management students usually think from a managerial perspective at all point of time.We usually discuss about terrorism, recession, global warming etc. We also talk about the impact of most of the things happening around us on the business. In short in a short duration of two years we begin to think in a global and business perspective. But many a times we usually forget the small happenings around us which are of greater happiness and concern. In this whole process, we become selfish and usually forget our childhood. We also forget the small things which used to give happiness to us when we were small. We overlook them and usually ignore them in this whole process of becoming global and manger.
Today when i reached my home, i was very happy. Then i told all my family members that we would be celebrating a dry holi this year.As i spoke these words, suddenly i faced a protest from all the kids and my mom. They began to treat me as a devil's advocate. My brother said me, "why the hell you have come here,to spoil our hapiness..." I was shocked.I told them that we would save a great amount of water if we play a dry holi.We would also add to environment protection. But all my efforts were in vain.
I faced the same protest on Diwali when i decided to celebrate a pollution free diwali i.e. no crackers.
Finally i decided to give this a thought.I asked about this to my grandfather.I asked him about my brother's claim that how can i after celebrating "21 colourful holi" and "21 diwali full of crackers" would deprive them of his right in their 7th year only.My grandfather then asked me to think on the same statement only.I gave it a thought and finally concluded that we need to use different strategies to convince our younger ones.We need to think from a child mindset to convince them.
This was totally thought provoking and gave me a lesson that to convince others we have to think from others' mindset.
Well happy holi to you all.
